Youth Services
Great Youth Debate |
Includes training youth in research, formal debate format, and persuasive public speaking skills. |
Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) |
SYEP is a great way to get youth from all different areas of Cincinnati to meet each other while learning about the importance of teamwork, friendship and job stability. Through teaching basic PowerPoint, research and writing skills, each summer the youth go through a 10 week program to become better employees. The program also offers a lot of fun activities such visiting historical sites, numerous field trips and a closing ceremony party at the end of the program. |
Youth Service Awards |
Every March, CHRC reaches out to the community for nominations for the Youth Service Award. The award seeks to honor youth who actively promote positive human relations within their school and/or community. CHRC nominations target youth who participate and/or lead service-learning activities, community service opportunities, diversity programs, and who also act as positive role models for their peers. |
Peace Bowl |
Every year teams from different schools get together to hold a friendly football tournament at Avondale High School. The event is held in August as a community-building event to promote peace and good sportsmanship between the youth. |
Night-at-the-Mic |
Night-at-the-Mic summits are events where youth are encouraged to speak up about their communities and let CHRC know what resources are needed to encourage community development. CHRC uses this information to enhance programming for youth outreach. |
